Mecca of death

Very little comment is needed on this one but I did anyway… read on… my comments are in bold...

From Forbes.com
Mecca Death Toll Rises to 76
http://www.forbes.com/home/feeds/ap/2006/01/06/ap2433373.html

Hundreds of men using cranes, hand tools and blow torches pulled bodies from the rubble of a four-story building that collapsed in Islam's holiest city, and authorities said Friday the death toll reached at least 76.

So far, so sad… we don’t know the cause yet… old buildings… ancient technology? Not much of a chance of learning the truth either if the authorities take the opinion of the building owner. Read on…

…the operator of the hotel, Habib Turkestani, a relative of the Saudi owner, told The Associated Press the structure was safe. "What happened was a matter of fate and divine decree," Turkestani said.

Ohhhh, OK! It was fate! That explains it! And I guess you can’t sue Allah, so it’s also very convenient. Not that I think he doesn’t believe it when he says it was fate. In fact, not only should we not blame the owner of the hotel for running an unsafe establishment we should THANK him!

"It was a horrible accident, but my Muslim brothers who died will go to paradise," said a Pakistani pilgrim, Rahimi Farouki, referring to the victims.

Great, I feel better knowing they are in paradise… I’m sure their families are cool with that. Now the thing that really amazes me is what this kind of “faith” and superstition actually yields in the terms of human cost…

The hajj has suffered numerous tragedies in recent years. The worst was in 1990, when 1,426 pilgrims were killed during a stampede in an overcrowded tunnel leading to a holy site in Mecca. On the hajj's final day in 2004, 251 people were trampled to death when the crowd panicked during the stoning of the devil ritual.

Anyone who is taking part in a ritual like that can’t be too stable on his or her axis in the first place. I hate to say it but it was not fate that killed all these people… it was their own irrationality. No reasonable person would be participating in the Hajj. It is a demonstration of evil.

The glorification of superstition, blind faith, mindless submission and an adherence to an anti-life philosophy enables this kind of death worship to thrive - and bears bountifully the bloody fruit of its own flesh

i left a comment on ur website about another article, i said as an athiest u have no morals or ethics, and u said just because u are an athiest doesn't mean that u dont believe in morals or respectable principles. what i would please like to know is if u are a person with morals, than why continue to attack our faith, leave us alone if u don't agree, u don'T have to disrespect people of whom u dont agree with, thus u lack morals and ethics, and if there are any morals u hold to, they are completely insignificant, because if you cant respect as much the way that so many people believe, than what morals could u possibly have?

Dear Muhammad,
Thank you for the comment. I am not attacking your faith, just pointing out the inevitable results of those who use faith as their primary means of relating to or evading reality.

It is evil to abandon your mind and rely soley on your feelings to guide your life. The article you commented on is a great example of why it always must end in death and destruction. Faith is not a good means of dealing with reality.

As for respect, yes, I do respect your right to believe what you want... as long as you don't impose it on me. My Muslim friends understand this... but sadly there are many who do not.

Cheers,

i am responding to what you said last time about how u are not attacking our faith but pointing out results. i am sorry but i misunderstood titles like Islam= stupid loser as offensive for some reason. are you kidding me how canu tell me u are doing this because you think we are imposing our faith on you, you try to impose your hatred on millions of people every day with these cleary offensive comments, don't be a hypocrite because you cant argue that you dont try to impose your faith on others, or lack of faith.and you should understand how so many muslims do not agree with these events of destruction and chaos. i believe you dont criticize our religion for innocent reasons of keeping people from what you believe to be evil and telling them that they must focus on "reality," my friend, reality is that all of this universe every soul, creature being, had to have come from somewhere, do u consider it absurd to believe in GOD or to believe that absolutely everything in the world came from nothing by an explosion, this big bang, was caused by nothing but yet everything in the world works together so perfectly, the ecosystem, nature in every kind, look at humans for example how we have been created so complex, DNA structures and all of that could not have come from accident, or pure nothingness as you think, this is not a proper way to think of reality, think about the soul, life itself, what creates life. please dont criticize my faith but if you do have any criticism find it in your heart to think twice of your intentions, of doing this because you just have questions not criticising because you hate or dont understand what is more logical.
i earnestly care for u my friend please be kinder and more honest with your words and think about the truth of our religion
thank u so much.
please respond.

Thanks again for the comment muhammad,

As I said, I am not attacking anyone... certainly not anyone who wants to live peacefully, but I do have a problem with faith in general. Here's my reason:

The word "faith" means "to believe something without evidence." When you agree to submit your mind to this principle of ignoring facts in favor of faith you destroy your own ability to judge what is true and what is not. This is obvious in your own arguments (above). I have made no attempts to impose my own standards on anyone... I am only voicing an opinion. This threatens no one.

I have studied all the major religions of the world and merely point out Islam at this point in time because despite what you say about millions of Muslims not agreeing with the use of terror, it is a fact that every single Muslim-dominated country is suffering from terrorism sponsored and initiated by Muslims. It's not a coincidence, it's the logical end of all people who take faith seriously. When you blank out the mind you cannot expect to persuade rational people of the validity of your philosophy so must resort to force.

Cheers,
JK

There was NOTHING wrong with what Muhammad Xhemali said...leave him alone. before anyone writes anything about anything they should know what they are talking about...anyone who criticizes Islam, obviously doesn't really know about this magnificent, true religion. I am sorry that you cannot see this but please leave everyone alone. We do not write blogs criticizing your religion or your beliefs but we have the right to respond to criticism about ours. Please respect Islam and anything else even if you may disagree and not believe the same thing...
Think twice before you write another blog or say something you shouldn't.

Thank you for the comment... were you to embarrassed to leave your name?

Regarding what you wrote, what do you mean by leave him alone??? YOU came to MY blog to get MY opinion. If you don't want to know what I think, then don't read my blog. I'm amazed that this needs pointing out, but alas, this is the intellectual vacuum of today's world.

Oh, I always think twice - and sometimes more than that - before I write. Do you?

Cheers,
JK

No, I was not embarrassed to leave my name. I just did not feel a need in leaving it. I mean I could always make up some overrated name to make you happy. But that is not necessary.
NO, I actually did not come to your blog to see you opinion..I could care less about your opinion. I came to your blog because I happened to have seen what Muhammad Xhemali said and I wanted to see what he was answering about. Oh, you are surprised that something so trivial needs to be pointed out when you are rejecting and criticizing Islam...well,Joe,you obviously need to be told some things that shouldn't need to be pointed out.
Ofcourse, I think before I write.
Okay, so you claim to think before you write--well maybe you are thinking about the WRONG thing...

Dear Anonymous,

Well, I hope you continue to read the blog. I'm interested in hearing different opinions. So far you have presented nothing in the form of evidence to help me to understand your viewpoint, but I truly believe that reasonable discussion is the way to bridge the gap between people of different cultures.
