Mission of Mercy...

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii -- (May 2, 2006) The Honolulu Pearl Canoe Club escorts Hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) into Pearl Harbor for a scheduled port visit en route to the Western Pacific and Southeast Asia where the crew will conduct humanitarian assistance missions. Joining the ship in Hawaii are caregivers from the Aloha Medical Mission, who for 23 years have provided health care and outreach to the people of Southeast Asia in over 70 missions. The five-month mission combines military, civilian and international medical teams aboard Mercy in cooperation with host nation governmental organizations to improve the quality of life for people in remote or impacted regions.
