Stoning to death... nothing to do with honor or justice...

I wish I could say this is uncommon in the middle east. Unfortunately it is old hat.

I spoke to an Iraqi right after the string of beheading videos back in 2004 and he told me most (local) people could not understand why the West was so shocked... this kind of violence goes on all the time in the middle east. Carried out officially and unofficially. Beheadings, child abuse, rape, torture (I'm not talking about water-boarding), floggings, stonings, etc.

I watched this one reluctantly as I have seen quite enough already to last a life time... but I also feel a kind of obligation to watch. so I decided to watch it with the sound off. For some reason the chanting bothers me and stays with me even longer than the visual - although that lingers as well. This is not law, justice or anything to do with honor... it is nothing but blood lust. There are no words that can fully describe what kind of a human being can smash the head of a beautiful young girl.

Makes me ill.
