Why the Koran should not be burned… and why I hope Pastor Jones DOES burn his Koran.
By Joe Kane
I hope the Pastor down in Florida burns that Koran. I wouldn’t do it… I don’t think burning books is a good idea in general, but I hope he does it anyway.
I’m very aware of the uproar that burning a Koran will cause in the “Muslim world” and I don’t care. I disagree with those who say it puts Americans at risk anymore than we already are. Islam is at war with ALL people who don’t submit to it (I learned that from the Koran.) The argument is that Muslims will be angry… but the implication is that if Muslims commit violence because their feelings are hurt then we (Americans) somehow deserve it… we brought it upon ourselves for not bowing down to the almighty irrationality called Islam. What a joke. Except it’s not funny.
It’s not funny because the so-called “religion of peace” holds the multiculturalists in the West hostage with its underlying threat of violence. Whether it’s an offensive cartoon lampooning their barbaric prophet or someone daring to burn a Koran, any and all violence done in retribution is the fault of the West.
The Lady Justice must be blushing in shame at the thought of those rigged scales. Let’s see how that works out;
- Muslims destroy World Trade Center in New York killing 3,000 people = The President calls Islam a peaceful religion, drops food packages on Afghanistan and build a mosque at Ground Zero.
- A cartoonist draws a picture = Muslims riot and murder people.
- -A man burns a book in Florida = Muslims riot, burn and plot more terrorist attacks against random Americans.
Last I heard, negotiating with terrorists is NOT an American policy. The whole idea behind burning the Koran in Florida seems to be one person’s way of saying, “Go to Hell” to the Muslims. Maybe Pastor Jones is tired of worrying about the nonsensical ravings from countries that permit and encourage honor killings, rape, mutilation, abuse of children, slavery, bigotry, tribalism and a host of other offensive and barbaric practices. The burning of the Koran is symbolic.
Having said that, I don’t believe the battle of ideas that has been waged throughout the history of humankind can be won by the destruction of books. The problem I have with burning the Koran, or any book for that matter, is that burning books cannot change ideas. Only education and better ideas can do that.
But, I understand the motivation behind burning the Koran if for no other reason than to thumb our noses at the blackmailer’s mentality that the “Muslim world” seems to have. We don’t need to be more sensitive, THEY need to know they cannot get away with initiating violence against us for ANY reason, including their poor little hurt feelings.

Please don't forget our fellow Christians have killed a lot of people as well. More people have been killed in the name of God then any other reason in History. The 9-11 hijackers were terrorist who happened to be Muslim. The I.R.A. had a terrorist wing that happen to be Catholic. Tim Mcvey was Catholic. We should judge based upon individuals actions not the religion they happen to believe in.
Dear mr Jones just wanted to raise awareness about his person. Paid by blood? Who the hell cares! Luckily it seems he changed his mind now. Or was it all part of a plan?
Hi Joe,
I don't know if you welcome comments, but I just read your post and agree with everything you said. I am so sick of Americans taking sh*t from every group of people on earth...no matter how much we try to help---we're always the evil Americans.
I see bloggers from Europe, Australia or wherever who think that Americans are a bunch of right-wing rednecks---which couldn't be more false. But that's the group the media has chosen to represent all of us. It's so perverted. Ugh. The media has turned Terry Jones into a huge celebrity---but if he were just ignored this spectacle would never have gone this far.
Americans are a freedom-loving people and we recoil in disgust from cultures who oppress their citizens, but we are not allowed to express this. If we express anger at any group, no matter how hostile, we're racist.
Where I live in AZ bunch of people just defaced an American flag on the news with a toilet, mud, paint, etc. No one dares publicly complain as you'll be labeled a fascist.
I'm not conservative politically because of all the crap that goes along with the party, but I'm sick of having to constantly defend myself as an American. There is no party for us. It's pretty pathetic.
No matter what we do it's never enough and never right. When did having respect for your country become so unfashionable? We are all expected to wallow in self-hate and take whatever we are fed. Hey we're all just trying to get by here.
Guess I'm a little annoyed today---needed to vent. Thanks!
Take care,
Debra
Duece,
I urge you to learn about the radical Japanese religion from the WWII era and how/why we eliminated that religion once we occupied Japan... This is not much different in my opinion and requires the same kind of inoculation whenever we come across it -- particularly where we go to war with it and have the power to crush it.
Unfortunately, when we went into Iraq and Afghanistan we let them write their own constitutions; essentially creating Islamic theocracies in both countries and ensuring we will continue to have problems in the region for decades to come.
